Alserkal Avenue, the warehouse arts district in Al Quoz, holds its annual Alserkal Art Week from 15 to 22 November. During the week many of the Avenue's galleries open new exhibitions together, and the programme adds installations, talks, studio visits and a performance on top.

Most of the new shows open on Monday 16 November. Green Art Gallery has Centrifugal Time by Rossella Biscotti in Warehouse 28, Gallery Isabelle shows Tatiana Chalhoub's The Trees Now Stand Unpruned and Wild in Warehouse 17, and Waddington Custot brings From Song to Light by the French painter Fabienne Verdier to Warehouse 84. Emirati artist Faris Alshafar shows Everybody Changes Underwater at Aisha Alabbar Gallery, CARBON 12 presents Malik Thomas Jalil Kydd, Efie Gallery shows Yaw Owusu, Firetti Contemporary shows Reynier Llanes, and Taymour Grahne Projects pairs Daniele Genadry and Fayçal Baghriche in Flawed Images. A group show called The Days Go On marks a gallery's 20th anniversary in Warehouse 11. Zawyeh Gallery opens Jack Persekian's Jerusalem, Take II two days earlier, on 14 November.

There is also work outside the white cubes. Rashed Qurwash's installation Athar Ether opens in Studio 9 of Warehouse 51 on 15 November, with an open studio on 21 November, and Return to Sender, a set of postcards drawn from research into the cultural politics of the Non-Aligned Movement, fills Studio 7 for the week. Dr Karima Alshomely unveils a commission on the Avenue's corner facade on 15 November, Rami Farooq opens his studio in Warehouse 16, and on 22 November Taus Makhacheva gives a performance in The Yard, presented by the UAE National Pavilion. The Majlis Talks bring in voices from Africa, and the Little Alserkal Explorers sessions for children aged 5 to 11 meet at The Yard on 14, 21 and 28 November.

Several longer shows also remain on, including Rana Begum's Taking Form at The Third Line until 24 November and Nada Elkalaawy's The Butterfly's Burden at Lawrie Shabibi until 23 November, so the week is a good moment to see the Avenue at its fullest.

Alserkal Avenue is in Al Quoz 1, with entrances on 17th Street, 6A Street and First Al Khail Street, and is open daily from 10am to 7pm, though each gallery keeps its own hours. Parking inside is limited: there are more than 500 RTA spaces nearby (zone code 364C). The nearest metro is Onpassive station on the Red Line, a five-minute taxi or bus 110 away. The programme page does not list admission prices, so check the Alserkal website for the full schedule and any events that need booking.
