Expo City Dubai: what is open, hours, tickets and getting thereExpo City Dubai

Expo City Dubai

Expo City Dubai, the former Expo 2020 site, is open 24 hours a day and you can walk around it for free. The big free sights are Al Wasl Plaza, open around the clock, and the Surreal water feature, open from 10am to 10pm. The paid attractions are Terra (AED 100 for adults, AED 80 for children aged 4 and over) and Vision Dubai (AED 75 for visitors over 12), both open from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5.30pm. Parking is free, and the Dubai Metro Red Line runs straight to Expo 2020 station in the middle of the city.

What is open and what it costs

Al Wasl Plaza: free, open 24 hours. Its steel trellis dome is 67.5 metres high and carries what Expo City Dubai calls the largest 360-degree projection surface in the world. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of Expo 2020 and still stages concerts and events.

Surreal: free, 10am to 10pm, in the Jubilee District between Sky Avenue and Mangrove Avenue. Water runs down tall walls and seems to flow upwards, with flames and music timed to it. It was designed by WET Design, the firm behind the Burj Khalifa fountain, with music by Ramin Djawadi. The operator says it may close to the public during private events.

Terra: 10am to 6pm, last entry 5.30pm, on Sidr Avenue in the Sustainability District. Adults pay AED 100 and children aged 4 and over AED 80; children aged 3 and under and people of determination go in free. Allow about two hours. It is mostly indoors, with the Under the Ocean and Under the Forest journeys, washrooms and baby changing rooms, and children must stay with an adult.

Vision Dubai: 10am to 6pm, last entry 5.30pm, on Al Ghaf Avenue in the Sustainability District. Visitors aged 12 and over pay AED 75; those 12 and under and people of determination go in free. It tells the story of Dubai's change from desert town to modern city. There are no toilets inside the pavilion, but there are some nearby.

House of Arts: noon to 8pm, Unit 20, Unity Quarter B, Opportunity District. Entry is paid, with memberships from AED 65. Its first exhibition, Interwoven, brings together 20 artists from across the Gulf in 14 gallery spaces. A Saturday programme, Saturdays at the House, is listed at AED 35.

Expo City Mosque: open from 4am to 9pm, free, on Horizon Avenue.

Parks and play areas

Jubilee Park is open around the clock, and the Taqa Island playground from 10am to 6pm. Rashid's Adventures Playground (listed hours 2pm to 10pm), the Adventurous Octopus Playground and Cinema Akil were shown as closed on 27 October 2026. For exercise there are 10 km of cycling tracks, a 5 km running track and 45,000 square metres of parks and gardens.

Getting there

By metro: take the Red Line to Expo 2020 station, which sits in the heart of Expo City Dubai. An RTA bus stop is right outside the station.

By car: the city is on Expo Road (E77), which links to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street (D54). Expo City Dubai puts the drive at about 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai and about 15 minutes from Al Maktoum International Airport.

Parking: free for all visitors, with spaces for people of determination near the main entrances. Its pages give two totals: about 9,500 bays in four zones on one page, and more than 20,000 spaces in the Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability zones on another. Terra A and Terra B are the closest car parks for Terra and Vision Dubai.

Getting around inside

The districts are car-free. Yellow taxi buggies start from AED 5 per person per trip, free for children aged 3 and under and people of determination, and take cards only, no cash. Wheelchairs and strollers can be borrowed from Visitor Centre 8 near Al Wasl Plaza, with ID. E-scooters (Skurtt) and e-bikes (Dott) can be rented, or you can bring your own.
