Dubai launches Generation DubAI, a free guide to AI for families
A free, bilingual website from the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence helps parents talk to children aged 8 to 15 about using AI safely.
The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, part of the Dubai Future Foundation, has launched Generation DubAI, a guide for families raising children who are growing up with AI. It was built with the Community Development Authority, which reviewed the content, and it is aimed at parents of children aged 8 to 15.
The guide is split into three kinds of content. "Moments" are five-minute pieces on real situations at home, each ending with one thing to try and a card to share. "Guides" are short references on topics such as the basics of AI, what not to share online and questions to ask before using a new app. "Activities" are things to do with children, some on a screen and some off it. There is also a safety section with child protection and online harm reporting contacts.
The site says it does not push any family towards AI, and that families who choose to limit it are respected. It describes itself as a first release that will keep being updated.
Generation DubAI is free and needs no account. It is at gen.dub.ai, in English and Arabic side by side, and works on a phone. Parents can sign up by email for occasional updates.
