The cooler months are when Dubai's calendar fills up. Here are ten dates worth saving over the next eight weeks, in the order they happen, each checked against the organiser's or venue's own listing.

1. Mo Gilligan at Dubai Opera: the British comedian plays on 12 October as part of Dubai Comedy Festival.

2. Global Village Season 31: the multicultural park opens for the season on 14 October and runs until May 2027. Ticket prices are still to be announced.

3. Orionid meteor shower: the peak falls on the nights of 21 and 22 October. Dubai Astronomy Group runs a desert watch at Al Qudra from 10pm to 2am, from Dh150.

4. Nancy Ajram at Coca-Cola Arena: the Lebanese star plays City Walk on Saturday 24 October at 9pm.

5. What The Food at Alserkal Avenue: the food festival returns on 31 October and 1 November, free to enter.

6. Dubai Fitness Challenge: the city's month of free workouts and community events runs from 31 October to 29 November.

7. BREDx at Etihad Live: worth the drive to Abu Dhabi on 13 and 14 November for Central Cee, Bryson Tiller, Bu Kolthoum and Zaid Khaled, with tickets from Dh195.

8. HYROX Dubai: the fitness race takes over Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City on 27 and 28 November; spectators pay Dh70 a day.

9. Dubai Miracle Garden: already open for its 15th season, daily from 9am to 9pm, with last entry 30 minutes before closing.

10. DXB Winter Festival: a new winter festival opens at Dubai Festival City on 1 December.
