Hatta, about 90 minutes from Dubai in the Hajar Mountains, is back in season. Hatta Resorts by Dubai Holding reopened on 28 September with refreshed lodges and two restored heritage trailers, and several private stays nearby are listed on the official Visit Hatta website. Prices are shown when you choose dates on each booking page.

1. Damani Lodges at Hatta Resorts: Wooden lodges against the mountains, from a Standard lodge for two adults (18 sq m) to a Premium lodge for two adults and two children (30 sq m), with access to the Wadi Hub adventure activities. This season the lodges have new interiors, and two of the seven Premier Lodges are getting private plunge pools.

2. Vintage Campers at Hatta Resorts: Retro campers inspired by the Kombi van, for two adults, with a porch, barbecue and fire pit, and a shared bathroom a short walk away. New this season are two restored heritage trailers for two guests each: the 1958 Coach (23.23 sq m) and Route 1948 (15.4 sq m), both with a queen bed and a private barbecue.

3. Campers at Hatta Resorts: Caravans in Standard, Deluxe, Premium and Elite grades, the Standard one sleeping two adults and two children up to 12. Each has a covered porch, barbecue and fire pit. The Deluxe caravan takes one dog up to 20 kg, with notice and proof of vaccination.

4. Domes at Hatta Resorts: Geodesic domes of 40 sq m for two adults and two children, each with its own plunge pool, sun loungers, fire pit and barbecue.

5. JA Hatta Fort Hotel: The established hotel in Hatta, which calls itself Dubai's only mountain resort. It is privately managed, so bookings go directly to the hotel (04 809 9443).

6. The Palm House Hatta: A modern farmhouse for groups of up to eight, with a temperature-controlled pool, a children's play area, a barbecue and bonfire area and stables with horses. It is run by its owners, who take bookings directly.
