67 Pall Mall, the private members' club that started in London as a home for people who love wine and good food, is coming to Dubai. Its Dubai club will sit on the first floor of The Opus in Business Bay, the cube-shaped building with a hole through its middle designed by Zaha Hadid, and the club says membership is already open. What's On reports that the opening is planned for 2027, making it the group's first club in the Middle East.

The club will cover about 12,000 square feet. According to the plans described so far, the centre of it will be a Clubroom meant to work from breakfast meetings to late evenings, with private dining rooms for members' own events, an outdoor terrace and a more relaxed lounge for meeting and eating. The club says its food will be led by a team of chefs of Michelin-star calibre working across two kitchens, with a chef residency that brings guest chefs in for short stays through the year. Wine sits at the heart of it, with a long list of rare bottles, and there will be live music, talks and hosted dinners.

The first 67 Pall Mall opened in London in 2015, in a listed former bank building in St James's. There are now clubs in Singapore, on the top of the Shaw Centre on Orchard Road, and in Verbier in the Swiss Alps, plus a membership without a building in Hong Kong. Bordeaux, Beaune, Shanghai and Melbourne are listed as coming soon. Members of one club can use the others, and the group has reciprocal arrangements with other clubs around the world.

Dubai already has a handful of private members' clubs, but few are built around wine. 67 Pall Mall's arrival in Business Bay puts one a short walk from Downtown, in a building that also holds a hotel, offices and restaurants.

Membership is the only way in. What's On, quoting the club's brochure, says Dubai membership starts at Dh25,000 a year, with no joining fee for the first 100 founding members and a Dh7,500 joining fee for the next 500. Wine professionals pay a reduced Dh18,750 a year, and a lifetime membership costs Dh350,000. Applications are made through the club's website, 67pallmalldubai.com, or by email to its membership team. No exact opening date has been announced yet.
