Porsche shows the Mission S, a concept for a mid-engined car above the 911
Porsche revealed the Mission S concept in New York on 15 October. It previews a new mid-engined super sports car platform that will sit above the 911; no UAE price or date has been given.
Porsche has revealed the Mission S, a concept car that shows where the brand's design is heading. It had its world premiere on 15 October on a pier in Queens, New York, the same spot where the 550 Spyder was photographed in 1953.
The car has a mid-engined layout, round headlights, a low and wide body and a fully integrated active rear wing. Its wheels borrow the dial design of the 928, and the cooling recalls the 917's radiator fan. Inside, the driver gets five round dials and an analogue rev counter; there is no fixed centre screen, only a retractable MagSafe phone holder.
Porsche says it is developing a mid-engined super sports car platform that will sit above the 911 as a permanent part of the range, not a one-off hypercar. It has not published power, weight or performance figures.
The Mission S is a show car, so it cannot be ordered in the UAE. Porsche has not announced a production model, a price in dirhams or a date for the region. Porsche Centre Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be the places to ask once a road car is confirmed.
