The plug-in hybrid version of Toyota's RAV4 is now on sale in the UAE. Toyota UAE, the brand's distributor run by Al-Futtaim Motors, lists the 2026 RAV4 PHEV from Dh154,900, which makes it the most expensive RAV4 in the local line-up and the first one that can run on electricity alone for a normal day's driving.
The car pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors and a battery that can be charged from the wall. Toyota UAE says it can cover up to 100km on electricity before the engine is needed, and that the whole system produces 324hp, sent to all four wheels through its Intelligent AWD. It accepts 11kW AC charging at home or at a public post, and 50kW DC fast charging.
Toyota UAE's page currently shows one trim, described as the 2.5L PHEV 4X4. Equipment listed for it includes 18-inch dark grey alloy wheels, roof rails, a sunroof, a wireless phone charger, a blind spot monitor, a head-up display that shows speed and driving information on the windscreen, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and the Toyota Safety Sense 4 package of driver aids.
The plug-in sits above the rest of the RAV4 range in the UAE. The same site lists the standard petrol RAV4 from Dh105,900 and the regular RAV4 Hybrid, which cannot be plugged in, from Dh114,900. Earlier this month Toyota UAE put its first fully electric car, the bZ4X Touring, on sale at Dh184,900, so the RAV4 PHEV now fills the gap between the hybrids and the electric car for buyers who want electric commuting without depending on public chargers for longer trips.
The car can be configured, financed and booked for a test drive on toyota.ae, where Toyota UAE also shows a monthly finance example of Dh2,427, or through Al-Futtaim Toyota showrooms; the distributor's number is 800 TOYOTA. Toyota UAE has not published an on-the-road delivery date on the page, and prices can change with options and colours, so it is worth asking the showroom for a full quote before you commit.
