Chinese carmaker XPeng has brought its two new flagship SUVs to the UAE. The GX and the G9L were introduced at an event in Dubai on 2 November, and XPeng's UAE website now takes pre-orders for the GX, with a request form for a test drive or a call back in any of the seven emirates.

The Dubai launch was the GX's first appearance outside China. It is a six-seat SUV that XPeng pitches on comfort, privacy and space, while the G9L is a three-row family SUV with a more flexible seating layout. The G9L has already gone on sale in Europe as a fully electric car and in Hong Kong in six-seat and seven-seat versions.

The versions coming to the region use XPeng's Kunpeng range extender: a small engine that charges the battery, so the car still drives on electric power but does not depend on finding a charger on long trips. XPeng quotes a maximum combined range of 1,210 kilometres on the NEDC test cycle, which is more generous than real-world driving. Both SUVs use an 800-volt system, and the company says the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 10.7 minutes on a fast enough charger.

According to the company's statement on the launch, reported by CnEVPost, the GX had more than 4,000 orders across the Middle East and Africa before deliveries began, about 800 of them in the UAE. XPeng says its central spare parts warehouse in Dubai can supply service centres in as little as 24 hours, that it aims to be in all six Gulf countries by the end of the year, and that it plans six more new models for the Middle East over the next twelve months.

XPeng has sold the G6 and G9 in the UAE since 2024, and its current UAE offers are monthly finance plans on those two models.

For buyers, the practical position is this: the GX can be pre-ordered now through xpeng.com/ae, and a test drive can be requested from the same page. XPeng's UAE website does not list a price for either model yet, and no delivery dates have been announced, so ask the showroom for the final price, the trim levels on offer and when the first cars will arrive before paying a deposit.
