Free Yas Express shuttles will link Etihad Rail to Yas Island's theme parks
Miral and Etihad Rail are teaming up so train passengers can ride free shuttles from Mohamed bin Zayed City station to Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World and SeaWorld.
Miral, the company behind Yas Island's attractions, and Etihad Rail have agreed a partnership to connect rail passengers with the island. A free shuttle network will link Mohamed bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi with Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros World and SeaWorld, The National reported.
The start date of the new network and its timetable have not been announced. For now, the existing Yas Express ER1 runs between the station and Yas Mall in about 30 minutes, leaving the station at 7.40am, 1.05pm and 7.35pm, and returning from Yas Mall at 12.15pm and 4.15pm. Etihad Rail's own shuttles to Reem Mall, Adnec and Adnoc HQ cost Dh10 a journey on top of the train fare.
Lisa Goswell of Miral said the aim is to link rail travel with the Yas Express network for guests' convenience, and Etihad Rail Mobility said it wants passenger rail to be a practical way to travel around the country.
If you live in Dubai, this makes a car-free day out at the Yas theme parks more realistic: take Etihad Rail to Mohamed bin Zayed City, then the ER1 to Yas Mall today, and the direct park shuttles once they start. The Yas shuttles are free; you pay only the train fare and the park ticket. Check the ER1 times before you travel, as there are only three departures from the station a day.
