Jameel Arts Centre, Jaddaf Waterfront
Down to Earth, Jameel Arts Centre's weekend about nature in the city, returns for its seventh edition on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November. It runs from 3pm to 10pm on the Saturday and 3pm to 8pm on the Sunday, across the Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park, the centre and its gardens.
This year's theme is "Nature in the City: Growing Together". There will be workshops, performances, talks and family activities on urban nature, biodiversity, food and materials. The Green Bazaar sells plants, sustainable homeware and local products, the Farmers' Market lets you buy straight from UAE growers, and an urban market brings vintage clothes, streetwear and sneakers.
The Faire Trade swap shop takes new and pre-loved items, from plants and cuttings to clothes, books, toys and electronics; food and drink cannot be swapped, and large or heavy things are best left at home. The full programme has not been published yet.
Entry is free and open to all ages, but you need to register through the form on the Jameel Arts Centre website. Bring a bag for plants and anything you plan to swap, and come early on Saturday if you want the widest choice at the market.
