Dubai changes speed limits on five roads from 1 November

Three Dubai roads get higher limits and two get lower ones from Sunday 1 November, after a review by the RTA and Dubai Police.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police are changing the speed limits on five Dubai roads from Sunday 1 November. They say the new limits follow a review of traffic volumes, the speeds the roads were designed for and how built-up the areas around them have become.

Three limits go up. Al Asayel Street rises from 60 to 80km/h between Oud Metha Street and Al Meydan Street. Al Mustaqbal Street rises from 60 to 70km/h between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street. Latifa bint Hamdan Street rises from 60 to 70km/h between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Two limits come down. Al Rebat Street drops from 100 to 90km/h between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street drops from 80 to 70km/h between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street.

If you drive Al Rebat Street towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, or Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Street near Satwa and Bur Dubai, slow down from 1 November: the old limit no longer applies there, and radars follow the posted signs. On the other three roads you may drive a little faster, but only on the stretches named above; elsewhere the existing limits stay as they are. Watch for the new signs going up before the change.
