Dubai Ride adds a Dress Your Ride contest, with Dh10,000 for each of four winners
Decorate your bike or wear a costume on Sunday 1 November and pose for the official photographers: the best bike, theme, family and group each win Dh10,000.
Dubai Ride, the free mass cycle on Sheikh Zayed Road that opens the Dubai Fitness Challenge, has a contest for the first time this year. Dress Your Ride pays Dh10,000 to the winner in each of four categories: best overall bike, most creative theme, best family costume and best group costume.
There is no separate entry form. Decorate your bike, dress up, or both, and pose for the official event photographers during the ride on Sunday 1 November; they capture the entries on the day. The ride itself is not timed and has a 25 km/h limit. The 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route, for more confident cyclists, starts from the Museum of the Future, Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay or Lower Financial Street, and the flat 4km Downtown family route loops around The Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa.
Registration is free but required, on the Dubai Fitness Challenge website; a parent or guardian can register up to three children and must accept the waiver for anyone under 18. Collect your bib and T-shirt at the 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park between 28 and 31 October. Keep costumes safe to ride in: nothing loose that can catch in the wheels or chain.
