Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro costs from Dh11,999 in the UAE
The MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display adds touch to a Mac for the first time. UAE pre-orders are open, and it reaches stores on Friday 6 November.
Apple has put a touchscreen on a Mac for the first time. The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, announced on 28 October, comes in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, and UAE buyers can already pre-order it on Apple's UAE online store. Deliveries, Apple Store stock and authorised resellers start on Friday 6 November.
The UAE prices, as reported by tbreak and Gulf News, start at Dh11,999 for the 14-inch model with M5 Pro and Dh14,499 for the 16-inch with M5 Pro. With the M5 Max chip, the 14-inch starts at Dh19,299 and the 16-inch at Dh20,999. Education prices are lower, from Dh11,399. These are starting prices: more memory, more storage or the nano-texture glass cost extra.
The screen is the headline. Apple calls it a tandem OLED panel, with two layers of self-lit pixels, up to 2,000 nits of brightness for both everyday and HDR content, and a refresh rate that moves between 10Hz and 120Hz. The touch sensor sits inside the panel, so the screen accepts scrolling, pinching to zoom, dragging and tapping, and Apple has redesigned the hinge so the display stays steady when you press it. A new Dynamic Island at the top of the screen holds Spotlight, music and live updates.
Both sizes are lighter than before: Apple puts the 14-inch at about 3 lb (1.36kg) and the 16-inch at about 4 lb (1.8kg). Battery life is quoted at up to 24 hours, with a fast charge to 50% in about 30 minutes. The ports stay generous: three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SD card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack. The laptops come in space black and silver and ship with macOS 27.
This model sits above the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, which went on pre-order in the UAE on the same evening from Dh8,499 and keeps the earlier screen without touch. Anyone who mainly wants a fast laptop for everyday work may find that one enough; the touch model is aimed at people who edit photos and video, design in 3D or work with large AI models.
