SOBA, a Turkish and Japanese restaurant, is due at Address Downtown in December
SOBA plans to open in mid-December at Address Downtown, facing Burj Khalifa, with sushi and raw dishes next to Turkish grills cooked over an ocakbaşı fire. The exact date is not set.
SOBA, a new restaurant bringing together Turkish and Japanese cooking, is expected to open in mid-December at Address Downtown, overlooking Burj Khalifa, What's On reported on 15 October. The exact opening date has not been announced.
Co-founder Mert Türkmen describes it as a meeting of two cultures rather than fusion. The menu pairs Japanese technique, sushi and raw dishes with Turkish flavours, premium grilled meat and ocakbaşı-style cooking over fire, mostly for sharing.
The restaurant will have about 80 seats inside, across the dining room, a bar and an ocakbaşı counter, and a 160-seat terrace with cooled floors. The design mixes Japanese minimalism with Turkish touches: burgundy, warm wood, cream stone, Rosso Levanto marble and antique brass, under a ceiling installation inspired by the Silk Road.
SOBA plans to open daily from 12pm to 3am. Prices and booking details have not been published yet, so there is nothing to reserve for now; the opening date and menu are expected closer to December.
