Taiga brings a 19-seat teppanyaki counter to Bluewaters Island
The TakaHisa team's third place on Bluewaters cooks Japanese wagyu and seafood in front of guests, daily from noon to midnight.
Bluewaters Island, Dubai
Taiga, a Japanese restaurant built around a 19-seat omakase teppanyaki counter, opened on Bluewaters Island on 1 October 2026. It comes from TakaHisa Group, whose flagship TakaHisa restaurant and Maison Shibuya Supermarket are also on the island; Taiga sits next to the supermarket.
The counter is led by executive chefs Takashi Namekata and Hisao Ueda, who cook A5 wagyu, including Kobe, Matsusaka and Ozaki beef, and seafood flown in from Japan several times a week, so the menu moves with the seasons. Away from the counter, tables serve yakiniku, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki, and a private room seats up to eight.
Taiga is open daily from noon to midnight. It sits at the top of the price range: What's On lists the omakase at Dh2,500 a person and puts an à la carte dinner for two at about Dh1,300 to Dh1,500. With 19 seats at the counter, book ahead for evenings and weekends, and ask for the private room for groups.
