Paul Guiragossian's centenary show is at Bassam Freiha Art Foundation until 17 January
Paintings by the Lebanese artist, most leaving Lebanon for the first time, lead a new season on Saadiyat that also pairs Lana Khayat with Etel Adnan and Helen Khal.
Bassam Freiha Art Foundation in the Saadiyat Cultural District has opened a new season, From a Shared Ground, built around the Lebanese painter Paul Guiragossian. It opened on 17 October and runs until 17 January 2027, Gulf News reported.
The centrepiece, Paul Guiragossian: 100 Years of Art, brings together paintings and archive material from the artist's estate, most of it leaving Lebanon for the first time. Among the works are a 1948 self-portrait, a portrait of his mother Rahel from the same year, L'Etreinte from 1973 and an unfinished self-portrait from the last months of his life.
A second show, Roots Before Petals, puts the UAE-based artist Lana Khayat beside the Lebanese modernists Etel Adnan and Helen Khal, three generations of women who painted Lebanon through flowers, landscape and nature. Khayat shows new works that include three-dimensional flowers.
Both shows are on until 17 January. Opening hours and entry prices for the season have not been published in the report, so check the foundation's own page before you go. The foundation is next to Louvre Abu Dhabi in the Saadiyat Cultural District, about an hour's drive from Dubai.
