Last Trade Centre Roundabout bridge opens on 30 October, from Al Majlis Street
RTA opens a 1km, two-lane bridge from Al Majlis Street to 2nd December Street on Friday 30 October, cutting the trip from six minutes to one.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority will open the fifth and last bridge of the World Trade Centre Roundabout project on Friday 30 October. The bridge is 1,000 metres long with two lanes and takes traffic from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street, with room for about 3,000 vehicles an hour.
RTA says the trip from Al Majlis Street to 2nd December Street will drop from six minutes to about one, and the average wait at the junction will fall from 12 minutes to around 90 seconds. With this bridge, all the major works of the project are done: five bridges adding up to 5km, and the old roundabout turned into a junction at street level. The project cost more than Dh696 million.
The junction links Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd December Street, Za'abeel Palace Street and Al Majlis Street, one of the busiest crossings near Dubai World Trade Centre.
If you drive from Al Majlis Street towards Satwa and Jumeirah on 2nd December Street, the new bridge is your route from Friday 30 October. Expect new lane markings and signs around the junction in the first days, and follow the overhead signs rather than your usual turn.
